March Social Security Payments: When Will Your Check Arrive?
March is here, and if you're a Social Security beneficiary, you may be wondering when you can expect to receive your monthly payment.
The Social Security Administration has released the payment schedule for March 2019, and there are specific dates based on your circumstances that determine when your check will arrive.
If you started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, you've likely already received your payment.
Normally, these beneficiaries receive their payment on the third of each month, but this month it was disbursed on Friday, March 1. The reason for the early payment was that March 3 fell on a weekend, so payments were distributed two days earlier.
For those who began receiving benefits after May 1997, your payment date is determined by your birthday. Here's the schedule for March:
- March 13: If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of any given month.
- March 20: If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any given month.
- March 27: If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
To determine the specific payment date based on your birthday, consider the following:
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent on the second Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payment will be sent on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
If your check doesn't arrive on your expected payment date, the Social Security Administration advises waiting three additional mailing days before reaching out. If the check still hasn't arrived, you can speak with a representative at 800-772-1213.
